GPTech successfully participated in an innovative Large-Scale PV project in Puerto Rico conducted by NREL

The new software controls are related to critical operation features such as frequency response, frequency droop adjustment, curtailed operation, fast frequency response, and automatic generation control signals.

The Energy Department's (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) recently completed a photovoltaic (PV) solar demonstration project in Puerto Rico using GPTech’s control software, which allowed the facility to run under NREL requirements for their test plan.

GPTech technology adapted a 20 MW PV Plant in Puerto Rico to demonstrate “grid friendly" capabilities of utility-scale PV power plants.

GPTech provided state-of-the-art Power Plant Controller (PPC) Software by updating the control software of the PPC while maintaining other systems. The new system ensured that the PV plant met the requirements to accomplish the demonstration tests.

The new software controls are related to critical operation features such as frequency response, frequency droop adjustment, curtailed operation, fast frequency response, and automatic generation control signals.

NREL is DOE's primary national laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development.

GPTech's PPC technology operates in several PV plants, including the Mount Signal Solar Power Plant in Imperial County, California, one of the largest operating PV plants in the United States with 256 MW.
